Honey

Chuck had been interesting in Beekeeping for several years before he decided to actually try being a Beekeeper.  “Jackie bought me the book ‘Beekeeping For Dummies’ one Christmas so I figured I should at least look into it.”

After spending many hours in workshops, at Bee Meetings, and online, Chuck installed his first beehives in the spring of 2007 and usually keeps between 4-7 hives at any given time.  He also captures swarms that are looking for new homes.

We now sell delicious Home Grown Honey from our hives in various sizes including 8 oz. Honey Bears and 16 oz. (pint) glass jars.  Our biggest customer is Malabar Farm State Park in Perrysville , Ohio .

8 oz bears are $3.00 each or 2 for $5.00, plus shipping

Year one - friendly bees from CA, no suit just safety glasses and plastic gloves - and only one sting, while I was setting the camera

Hives in year 2 were 50/50 between CA bees and GA bees

Getting ready for winter #2, hat and veil added - tarps over cattle panels used as wind blocks

By year three - inspectors jacket, NC & GA bees more aggressive, but arrive in Ohio earlier than CA by 3 weeks

Interested in bees, don't buy all the stuff they tell you, talk  to someone in bees first - always glad to help
